The small building burned in front of me. I didn't know why or how I'd gotten here, but I was. I could hear the sirens in the distance, coming closer with each passing moment. I stood there and waited. Something had brought me here, but what? What was I supposed to see?
"Can you hear me?" I looked beside me. A police man was next to me, his hand gently on my shoulder. "Are you alright? This woman saw you wonder out of the house, did you get burned?" I turned toward the house.
I'd come from there? So that's why I was here. "I don't know." That's all I could say to him, because I honestly didn't know. I didn't remember walking from that house. The only memory I had was of the me standing in front of this house, staring into the flames.
"This nice lady is going to take care of you, alright?" I was suddenly being picked up and carried away. But before she closed the doors to the ambulance, I heard its scream. Its red eyes stared into mine. It was holding someone in its hands; covered in blood and reaching out towards me.
"Fire!" A burst of light flashed around it and as soon as I'd seen it, it was gone.
Along with my past.

Of Lies and Liars
Ten years, you said liars burn in hell
Five years, I found out that you lied
Little white lies to keep me in line
Even so, you told me yourself liars die
I opened my eyes, introduced to the world
To forget your betrayal sharp steel
Filled the gap where a family should be
All those moments wasted
A million times breaking your heart
Unneeded conflict, those jet-black lies
Bitter like sugarless coffee
And I can't get enough
Oh, I just can't get enough
A false world of comfort slipped from my grasp
I found out the truth and your lies
It wasn't long before I found vindictive joy
In conflict, sharp test of wits
It almost destroyed

Retrospection
We beg for mercy,
to be pardoned
of a sin not of
our own volition;
to escape what
haunts the mind
through dreams
and distorted images.
There is an escape,
but it seems far-fetched,
and it only leads
to further damnation.
Breaking the silence
with a subtle scream;
still the heart is
shattered with memories.

for her.
it's midnight and I'm writing love letters
on my skin to the woman who raised me. it's midnight
and every limb has a story. all
my collarbone remembers is the frantic
hurry of your footsteps when it broke under the weight
of gravity and mistaken desire to fly and my
broken pink umbrella, long-gone, remembers too. my elbows
remember the firm pull of your hands in the grocery
store. my cheeks remember your makeup and
my clumsy fingers dipping in like paint pots and my neck
remembers all your strands of pearls. I remember
when you were young again and wearing
red and holding cups of tea in hands
that didn't shake yet and I remembe
