I know you left me behind,
so you could go on living,
because I would have just held you down,
in this lonely broken town
I don't blame you,
but when you finally get on top,
sing a simple song for me,
so I know you still care
I'll be waiting in this town,
all of our memories still hanging around,
to keep me sane while you're gone,
making your dreams come true
I remember when we kissed,
under the moonlight that one night,
so many summers ago,
when we were so young…
You'd come to my side,
on those rainy nights,
and sing me something sweet,
to put me to sleep during the storm
Now I sit all alone,
in this once warm room,
as the rain drowns out,
these cold tears…
I know you left me behind,
so your hopes and dreams,
could have a chance of making it,
in this lonely world
I don't blame you,
for wanting something more,
than what I could give,
so go and be free in this world
I'll be waiting in this town,
with all of our memories,
keeping me warm,
on those cold nights
I remember when we,
sat under the willow tree,
and you sang to me,
something just for us
You'd come to my side,
on those very lonely nights,
when the wind would keep me awake,
until you sang me to sleep
Now I sit all alone,
in this once warm room,
as the rain drowns out,
these cold tears…
In the end,
I wanted more than you could,
ever possibly give to me,
in this broken town…
so you could go on living,
because I would have just held you down,
in this lonely broken town
I don't blame you,
but when you finally get on top,
sing a simple song for me,
so I know you still care
I'll be waiting in this town,

Retrospection
We beg for mercy,
to be pardoned
of a sin not of
our own volition;
to escape what
haunts the mind
through dreams
and distorted images.
There is an escape,
but it seems far-fetched,
and it only leads
to further damnation.
Breaking the silence
with a subtle scream;
still the heart is
shattered with memories.

I'll Love You Even In Death
Her hand tightens on mine
As I kiss her into the bed.
Her mouth is parted,
Inviting me in.
She's never acted this way before.
Always alone, always sulking.
But now she's opened up
She's shown me her scars, her tears.
I lick her neck right under the chin
She squirms under me, sighing for more.
But I don't.
Laying down besides her,
I kiss her on the head.
She may pout in protest,
But I just pull her closer.
Until she's wrapped in my arms.
She fits me, like a puzzle piece.
I'm not ever letting her go,
Not even if she dies.

Discern
I can take
a hint without
taking offense,
without affecting
my sense of self,
but it's so hard
to tell who is real.
